Moved House and Build Moving On Again

It's been a little while as I've been busy moving house and the DIY jobs that brings with it.....

So I got the car trailered up here and moved it into its new home. A much larger workshop for me now.

Even comes with an inspection pit!

Then it was time to get the garage set up as both a workshop and a home office!

Its a much nicer environment now and working on the car is a real pleasure. It actually seems to have taken away a bit of pressure to get to IVA. The way I am now set up I can easily just pop in there do an hours work with no major moving of cars etc.

Ive started the wiring of the lights and the associated switches and all is going well

Fog and light switches wired and tell tales working. Note for other builders with a non MX5 donor loom. To meet IVA rules for the Fog I ignored the feed wire for the fog switch, it would allow the fog on with sidelights (not OK). So I took the live feed for the headlamps from the Lucas light switch and looped it to the fog light switch. Now it is only possible to put the Fog on when the main headlamps are on. Contrary to web myths the fog doesnt need to be latched to switch off when the ignition is switched off. No need to buy the expensive CBS latch gadget. The reason those latches came into existence (hence the myth) was that when the fog switch rules were updated people got confused. The rule was amended slightly and the IVA manual now very clearly states 'the fog light should only be able to be activated when the main lights are on'.
You just need a fog tell tale warning light on the dash. Job done.

Only a very small amount of wiring to be finished in the cockpit and then it will all be nice, secure and tidy. More regular updates should commence again now... well until the next DIY job arrives on my plate! :-)
