LMR141 And A Change of Direction.....

Long time and no posts! Ive been enjoying the Summer and taking my Lotus to car meets and blasting the B roads. However those of you in the LMR141 Facebook group will know why my blog has been quiet. Since Quantum acquired the moulds and jigs Ive spent quite a bit of time talking to the owner Rob about the kits development and body mods. Which I have to say Rob and his team have exceuted beautifully!!

Whilst chatting we spoke about the cars name and I suggested LM141. LM being Le Mans and the 141 being both the track of of a stock MX5 141cm and also 1 donor 4 1 kit...... Rob added an R and it its now called the LMR141 which Im pretty chuffed about!

Anyway my new LMR 141 bodyshell will be ready soon and I will be posting here on how to convert your Replicar or nearly finished Replicar to the new shell. It will mostly be minor mods but certain things will need to change. First main one is that I dont want the heavier flip front option that's now on offer and therefore will need to fit a remote header tank. There is a huge misconception that the stock MX5 expansion tank is a header but it is absolutely not.

I have it planned and its easy in build terms, the rad will need a cap with no pressure valve, then plumbing the header up on the bulkhead with a correctly pressurised cap and a feed to the bottom rad hose with the bleed/overflow outlet from the rad back to the new header tank.

The body is due shortly and I will post all progress here (whilst trying to move house and relocate over 100 miles away!)

See ya soon!
